There is a new, convenient, no-obligation way for New Yorkers seeking legal advice to be matched up with an attorney in their community who can handle their case. Whether it’s personal injury, workman’s comp, a last will and testament, landlord-tenant issues, or a child custody battle, the New York State Bar Association has a confidential 24/7 website available at (https://nysbalris.legal.io) or call 1-800-342-3661. Clients can be confident that the attorney with whom they are matched have had their credentials reviewed by the NY State Bar Association and are in good legal standing.
People in need of legal assistance can visit the website and fill out a questionnaire describing their legal needs. Once the application is reviewed by the State Bar, the client will be matched with a relevant attorney. Referrals are completely free. There is a $35 fee for an initial 30-minute consultation, but no obligation to retain the attorney.
